Berthold von Fetzer

Karl Berthold Fetzer , from 1886 by Fetzer , (born April 3, 1846 in Stuttgart ; † August 15, 1931 in Stuttgart-Degerloch ) was a German physician and general doctor à la suite as well as personal physician to the two last Württemberg kings.

Life

Born as the son of Carl August Friedrich Fetzer , Berthold von Fetzer studied medicine in Tübingen after attending high school in Stuttgart . During his studies in 1863, like his father during his student days, he became a member of the Germania Tübingen fraternity . After his doctorate as Dr. med. et chir. he became an assistant doctor at the surgical clinic in Tübingen. At the Franco-German War he took from 1870 to 1871 as a senior physician at the fourth Württembergischen field hospital part. After the war he became a general practitioner in Stuttgart , but then started a career as a military doctor in 1872 . In 1881 he became staff and garrison doctor in Stuttgart, in 1883 second court doctor, general doctor à la suite and state councilor . From 1885 he was the personal physician of the two last Württemberg kings, Karl I and Wilhelm II, as well as Queen Olga . He was the founder and first chief physician of the Karl Olga Hospital in Stuttgart . Of Charles I he was in 1886 by awarding the honor Knight's Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown in the personal nobility ( ennoblement applicable). In 1911 he had to retire for health reasons. He was the author of numerous medical papers. In 1963 the Hölderlinklinik of the Deaconess Institution Martha-Maria in Stuttgart was named Staatsrat-von-Fetzer-Klinik . On this occasion, a bronze bust was inaugurated in the clinic's park.
