Bertl Mütter (born July 6, 1965 in Steyr , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian musician , composer and author .

Life

As a child, Bertl Mütter first wanted to be an opera singer and later a pastor. He graduated from the Bundesgymnasium Werndlpark in Steyr and then studied theology at the University of Graz . In order to concentrate exclusively on his career as a musician in the future, he finished his theology studies in favor of studying music (trombone, jazz and some voice) at the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts , which he successfully completed in 1990 with a diploma.

Bertl Mütter began the newly introduced artistic doctoral program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in 2010 , which he was the first to do in 2013 with a treatise on searching, finding, inventing, discovering sound and the Rigorosum. artium graduated.

Mütter lives freelance in Vienna.

music

Solo play is at the center of Mother's musical work. There was and is intensive duo work with the Slovak pianist Miki Skuta, the hurdy-gurdy player Matthias Loibner and the composer Christoph Cech , literary encounters with HC Artmann , Ernst Jandl , Franzobel , Josef Haslinger and - until his death - with Gert Jonke . There were also meetings with interpreters of medieval music (Ars Choralis Coeln, Witte-Maria Weber).
