Berzweiler is a district of the local community Hefersweiler in the district of Kusel in Rhineland-Palatinate . Until 1969 it was an independent community.
geography
Berzweiler is located in the North Palatinate uplands in the northern municipality and is traversed by the Odenbach . This opens locally by the right of the Born ditch and further north from left of pliers ditch . The Berzweiler Höhe, measuring 355.9 meters, rises to the east of the village .
history
In the Middle Ages, the place belonged to the Reipoltskirchen rule . During the early modern period Berzweiler came to Pfalz-Zweibrücken , within which it was subordinate to the Meisenheim Office and the Meisenheim Oberamt .
From 1801 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Berzweiler was incorporated into the canton of Wolfstein . In 1815 the place Austria was added. Just one year later, the place changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria . From 1818 to 1862 the place was part of the Landkommissariat Kusel , which was then converted into a district office.
In 1939 the place was incorporated into the Kusel district. After the Second World War , Berzweiler became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone . In the course of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative reform , Berzweiler was incorporated into the neighboring municipality of Hefersweiler on June 7, 1969.
Culture
With the school house and a war memorial, there are a total of two objects on site that are listed .
Infrastructure
The state road 382 runs through Berzweiler and connects the place with, among others, Odenbach , Otterberg and Enkenbach-Alsenborn .
