Besian Idrizaj (born October 12, 1987 in Baden , Lower Austria ; † May 15, 2010 in Linz , Upper Austria ) was an Austrian football player with Kosovar roots. The midfielder last played for Swansea City in the Football League Championship , the second-highest division in English football .
society
Idrizaj moved from SK Admira Linz to LASK Linz in 2002 . At LASK he made his debut in the fighting team at the age of 16 and was voted Austria's junior player for the 2004/05 season. At the U17 European Championship in France in 2004, he was discovered by scouts from Liverpool FC in a game against England and hired by the traditional English club in the summer of 2005. In March 2007 he was loaned to Luton Town until the end of the season in order to collect game practice there. Another loan deal followed for the 2007/08 season, this time with second division team Crystal Palace . On January 31, 2008 Idrizaj was loaned to FC Wacker Innsbruck . During the game against Sturm Graz on February 20, 2008, he collapsed on the field without outside interference and was unconscious for some time. Since it could not be found out what caused this breakdown, he was banned from training. As a result, Idrizaj only played two games with a total of 71 minutes playing time during his time in Innsbruck. His contract with Innsbruck was not renewed at the end of the season. In November 2008 he was invited to a trial training session by his former club LASK Linz, where he collapsed again. Right heart strain was found to be the reason for this .
From May 2009 he played for the German league club FC Eilenburg and played his first game there on May 3, 2009.
In August 2009 he signed another contract in Great Britain with Swansea City . He had previously been in conversation with RB Leipzig, among others .
Besian Idrizaj died of a heart attack on the night of May 15, 2010. Swansea City subsequently decided not to use its number 40 anymore.
National team
Besian Idrizaj was a national player for Austria for the youth teams U17 , U19 and U21 . Austria's U20 national team boss Paul Gludovatz said that he played too hard and too selfish, which is why he was not nominated for the 2007 U-20 World Cup in Canada.
