The first generation of the vehicle was formally shown at Auto China 2008. At the start of sales on May 16, 2009, the car was powered exclusively by a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with a maximum output of 76 kW (103 hp). The transmission was a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission . ABS and airbags for the driver and front passenger were standard , as was central locking . In higher equipment, among other things, an automatic air conditioning and side airbags were added.
In the C-NCAP crash test carried out in 2010 , the vehicle was rated with four stars.
Three concept vehicles were shown as variants with alternative drives : a vehicle with hybrid drive (HEV) at Auto Shanghai 2009, one with plug-in hybrid drive (PHEV) at Auto China 2010 and an electric vehicle (EV) at Auto Shanghai 2011.
In September 2013 the vehicle was revised. With the facelift , a 1.8-liter gasoline engine with a maximum output of 102 kW (139 hp) was also introduced. Until 2017, it was also built by Bahman Group in Iran.

The second generation of the B50 was launched in China in August 2016. The vehicle is offered with two gasoline engines with intake manifold injection : a 1.6-liter engine with a maximum output of 80 kW without engine charging and a 1.4-liter engine with a maximum output of 100 kW with turbocharging . The engine power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The 1.4-liter engine is only available with the "RS" equipment line. In 2018 the vehicle received a facelift.
The last new registrations in China were in December 2019.
