Betsy Westendorp-Osieck (born December 29, 1880 in Amsterdam ; † March 1, 1968 there ) was a Dutch painter and member of the Amsterdamse Joffers .

Life

Johanna Elisabeth (Betsy) Westendorp-Osieck was born in 1880 as the daughter of Philip Willem Osiecks and Catharina Agnes Briels. She was trained at the Teekenschool voor den Werkenden Stand in Amsterdam and later at the Reichsakademie in Amsterdam. Before her apprenticeship, she already had lessons from Lizzy Ansingh . Westendorp painted many portraits. As an etcher , she made ten illustrations in "Old Amsterdam Garden Houses", which were published in 1923 by Bernard Houthakker . In 1932 her collection of etchings on old Dutch facing bricks appeared. Westendorp-Osieck's work has won several awards, and during the De Vrouw exhibition from 1813–1913 , her contribution was awarded a silver medal. In 1915 she won the Willink van Collenprijs , in 1930 the Sint Lucas Prize, in 1936 the Queen's gold medal and the gold medal at the 1937 World Exhibition in Paris . Westendorp-Osieck died in March 1968 at the age of 87 in her hometown of Amsterdam.
