Bettina Gruber (born January 31, 1985 in Rossa ) is a former Swiss cross-country skier .

Career

Gruber took part in competitions of the Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS) from 2001 to 2014 . At the Junior World Championships in 2003 in Sollefteå , Sweden , she was 18th in the mass start race over 15 kilometers and 41st in the sprint. At the Junior World Championships 2004 in Stryn , Norway , she was 30th in the mass start over 15 kilometers, 34th in the sprint and 56th in the freestyle race over five kilometers. At her last Junior World Championships in 2005 in Rovaniemi , Finland , she finished 31st in the sprint and 45th in the pursuit over 2 × 5 kilometers.

She made her first World Cup race in February 2006 in Davos , which she finished with 50th place in the sprint. At the 2007 Winter Universiade in Pragelato , Italy , she reached the finals in the sprint, in which she was sixth, while she was 47th in the free technique over five kilometers. She got her first World Cup points at the end of January 2009 in Rybinsk with 29th place in the sprint. The following Winter Universiade 2009 in Yabuli , China , was her most successful international event: With second place in the sprint she was able to win her only international individual medal. She was also fourth in the ten kilometer pursuit and fifth in the Swiss student relay. She achieved her best individual World Cup result in Rybinsk in January 2010 with 12th place in the sprint. She finished the 2009/10 season in 73rd place in the overall World Cup ranking and 46th in the sprint ranking. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme she finished 46th in the sprint and 11th in the team sprint. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she finished seventh in the team sprint. After the 2013/14 season, she ended her career.
