Rossa is a municipality in the Moesa region in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland .
The municipality includes Rossa , as well as the previously independent municipalities Augio and Santa Domenica since 1982 . Further down in the valley is the Valbella and Scandalasc district , which also belong to Rossa. Rossa is the farthest village in the Calanca valley and the last post bus stop.

The coat of arms of the linden branch refers to the liberty linden tree in Rossa, the only linden tree in the Calanca valley.
The coats of arms of the former municipalities of Augio and Sta. With the merger with the municipality of Rossa, Domenica no longer have legal force, but their colors can be found in the retained Rossa coat of arms.
Augio's coat of arms showed: In red, a green branch of lily in stalks with silver (white) flowers. The branch of lily is the attribute of the two patrons of the parish church of Augio: St. Joseph and St. Anthony of Padua .
The coat of arms of Sta. Domenica showed: The bust of Saint Domenica in green with a golden yellow nimbus and black religious robe. The coat of arms contains a reference to the name of the place and the patronage of the parish church.
geography
The village lies at an altitude of 1089 m above sea level. M. in the upper Calancatal, on both banks of the Calancasca and 30 km north of the Bellinzona railway station of the SBB . From Rossa a mule track leads over the Pass di Giümela ( 2117 m above sea level ) to Fontana in Val Pontirone . Neighboring communities are Mesocco , Soazza and Calanca as well as Biasca and Serravalle in the canton of Ticino.
history
The village was first mentioned in 1673. Ecclesiastically it belonged to Santa Maria in the outer Calanca valley until around the time of the Reformation ; from then on until shortly after 1673 it formed a parish with Santa Domenica. At that time it became its own parish. Politically, Rossa belonged to the Marche Cooperative of the Calancatales until 1866, which was dissolved.

tourism
There are many hiking trails, some of them steep, in pristine nature. In about three hours you can reach the Buffalora hut on Sentiero Alpino Calanca , which is looked after in summer ; The Alp de Ganan is also strange.
