Braggio is a village in the municipality of Calanca , which lies in the former Calanca district in the Moesa district of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland .

The place is on a terrace 500 meters in altitude on the left above the valley floor of the Calanca valley . Of the entire former municipal area of ​​688 hectares, 462 hectares are covered by forest and wood. Another 154 hectares are unproductive areas (mostly mountains), 66 hectares of agricultural land and 6 hectares of settlement area.

Braggio borders the municipalities of Buseno and Santa Maria in Calanca .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1419 under the then name Bragio . As a half degagna (user cooperative ) it was part of the municipality of Calanca and had been independent since 1851. The mayor was Gabriele Minotti until 2014 (as of 2009).

Community merger

Until December 31, 2014, Braggio was a separate political municipality . On January 1, 2015, it merged with the municipalities of Arvigo , Cauco and Selma to form the new municipality of Calanca .

The symbol of St. Bartholomew is the knife, the arrow stands for the new church dedicated to the painful Mother of God.
