Buseno (officially Busen until 1943 ) is a municipality in the Moesa region of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland .

geography

Historical aerial photo by Werner Friedli (1953)

The municipality consists of the village of Buseno and the district of Molina in the valley floor of the lowest part of the Calanca valley, as well as the mountain settlements of Giova and San Carlo . The village lies on a heavily wooded slope on the right side above the Calancasca river .

Of the entire municipal area of 1126 hectares, 925 hectares (over 82%) are covered by forest and wood. Another 117 hectares are (mostly mountainous) unproductive areas. Only 63 hectares are agriculturally usable, mostly alpine pastures. The remaining 21 ha are used as settlement area.

Buseno borders on Calanca , Castaneda , Grono , Roveredo GR , San Vittore GR and Santa Maria in Calanca .

history

In 1548 the village was given the right to choose its own parish, which had previously belonged to the San Vittore chapter. Politically and economically, Buseno did not become a completely independent municipality until 1866, after the final division of the forests and alpine meadows, which previously belonged to the whole valley as a market cooperative. Parish register since 1654–1655.
