Augio was a separate municipality in the former District Moesa , Kanton Graubünden in Switzerland . In 1982 Augio and the formerly independent municipality of Santa Domenica merged with the municipality of Rossa to form the new political municipality of Rossa .

geography

The village is at an altitude of 1034 m above sea level. M. Gem. And village on the right bank of the Calancasca , in the upper Calancatal , 26 km north of Bellinzona .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1301 under the then name Augio, then in 1584 it belonged to Santa Domenica. Since the 12th century the village has been under the rule of the Barons von Sax . In 1480 they sold their rights to Gian Giacomo Trivulzio of Milan . When the latter got into a dispute with Duke Ludovico Sforza of Milan in 1496 , it entered the Gray League and Augio received the status of half a Degagna.
