Bettina Heintz

Bettina Heintz (born July 15, 1949 in Zurich ) is a Swiss sociologist .

Life

After studying sociology and social history at the University of Zurich , Heintz obtained a licentiate in sociology in 1983 . During her studies she started working as an editor at the Swiss Radio DRS (until 1987). She then worked for five years as a research assistant at the University of Zurich, the University of Bern and the Free University of Berlin . Heintz received his doctorate from the University of Zurich in 1991 and was a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin in 1992/93 . From 1993 to 1996 she worked as a senior research assistant at the University of Bern. In 1996 he completed his habilitation at the Free University of Berlin. After a visiting professorship at the University of Vienna , Heintz was Professor of General Sociology at the University of Mainz from 1997 to 2004 . From 2004 to July 2013 she was Professor of General Sociology and Sociological Theory at Bielefeld University . Since August 1, 2013, she has been Professor of Sociology at the University of Lucerne .

From 2002 to 2006 Heintz was a member of the editorial board of the Zeitschrift für Soziologie , since 2007 she has been co-editor of the Sociological Review . She has been a member of the Swiss Science and Technology Council since 2000 . In 2009 she was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences .

In 2017 she retired. She then took on a senior professorship in Lucerne.
