Bettina Schältke

Bettina Schältke (born February 6, 1961 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German dramaturge and theater scholar .

Life

After studying theater studies, German and Romance languages (Italian) at the Free University of Berlin , she did her doctorate on German-language theater during the Nazi era . Since 1991 she has worked as a dramaturge at the Schauspiel Frankfurt , the Staatstheater Hannover , the Volksbühne Berlin am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz , the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel (1994–1999), the Theater Bremen and from 2001 to 2010 at the Deutsches Theater Berlin . Since then she has overseen over fifty productions, mainly by Dimiter Gotscheff and Jürgen Gosch at the Deutsches Theater . In 2011 she was engaged at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden . Since 2013 she has been the artistic director and manager of the Rottweil room theater . She also took on teaching positions (at the Free University of Berlin, the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , the Bavarian Theater Academy in Munich , the University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig ), was a member of the jury for the Munich Literature Prize , and was a mentor of the Stückemarkt of the Berlin Theatertreffen and, together with Peter Staatsmann, published the book “Das Schweigen des Theater - Der Regisseur Dimiter Gotscheff” in 2008 (as a workbook for a future theater).
