Betty McDowall (born August 14, 1924 in Sydney , New South Wales as Betty Magarita McDowall , † December 31, 1993 in London ) was an Australian actress in film and television. She was best known for her roles in movies such as 12 Seconds to Eternity , A City Seeks a Murderer , Tomorrow at ten , The First Journey to the Moon or L - The Silent One

life and career

Betty McDowall was born in Sydney, New South Wales, in 1924. She made her film debut in TO McCreadie's drama Always Another Dawn in 1948 at the age of 24 . Since 1957 she has been cast in numerous female leading roles, mostly in low-budget productions for British cinema. She starred in films such as the thriller Twelve Seconds to Eternity by director Gerald Thomas , in the crime film A City Seeks a Murderer directed by Robert S. Baker and Monty Berman , in the drama The Boss Was Faster Than Scotland Yard alongside William Hartnell , in Montgomery Tully's crime thriller Before the Change - Murder at Vincent Ball's Side, in the drama Temptation on the School Desk by director Leslie Norman , in Lance Comfort's thriller Tomorrow at Ten , in the science fiction adventure film The First Ride to the Moon by Nathan Juran or in the agent parody L - Der Lautlose directed by Jack Cardiff . Her last appearance on the big screen was in Richard Donner's horror film The Omen in 1976 .
