Bhimeshwar is a mountain town and the administrative seat of the Dolakha district in central Nepal , 135 km east of Kathmandu (70 km as the crow flies).
The city ( municipality ) lies on a ridge at an altitude of approx. 2000 m within sight of the Gaurishankar on the land route from Kathmandu to Mount Everest .
Bhimeshwar emerged in 1996 essentially from the village ( Village Development Committee ) Charikot and a number of incorporated neighboring villages. The term Charikot is therefore still in use. The urban area covers 65.04 km².

At the 2011 census, the city of Bhimeshwar had 22,537 inhabitants (10,489 male) in 6,076 households.
