Bhoothnath ( Hindi : भूतनाथ, translated: Lord of Ghosts ) is a Bollywood film with Amitabh Bachchan as the ghost. Bhoothnath is a film adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Canterville Ghost .

action

The seaman Aditya Sharma moves with his wife Anjali and son Aman alias Banku into the villa "Nath" near Goa . On the outward journey you will be made aware of the haunted villa by the residents. Nevertheless, they ignore the statements and do not allow themselves to be misled. While Anjali and Banku are slowly settling in, Aditya has to go back to sea.

Strange things actually happen. One night Banku encounters the ghost: it is the late homeowner Kailash Nath. The ghost tries to scare Banku in order to drive the whole family out of the house. But Banku remains unimpressed. On the contrary, they soon become friends and the spirit is now called Bhoothnath.

At some point Bhoothnath also shows himself to Anjali and tells about his past: His son Vijay leaves India to study in America . His mother cannot cope with the long absence in the long run. Although they asked him to return several times, Vijay doesn't find time. He only appears at the mother's funeral. To Nath's horror, Vijay now wants to sell the villa and take him to America. Nath cannot be persuaded. But when his wicked daughter-in-law is dragging his beloved little grandson out of the house by force, Kailash runs after him as he falls down the stairs and wakes up as a ghost.

Anjali is so touched by the story that she tells Aditya about it. Without further ado, Aditya goes to Vijay to organize a ceremony for Nath so that Nath can finally rest in peace. But since he refuses, Banku takes over his task, believing that Nath's birthday should be celebrated. It seems like Nath is gone, but at the end of the film he returns to Banku.

music

The soundtrack was composed by the duo Vishal-Shekhar . The background music, however, is from Salim Merchant and Suleiman Merchant .
