geography

course

The Bièvre rises in the Vosges west of Heidenschlossberg and south of Walscheid at an altitude of about 410  m . It initially flows in a north-north-westerly direction through wooded terrain. East of Grossdirchel, it feeds a small lake into which the Fischbach flows and then passes the town of Walscheid. South of Sitiford , at the Kreuzmuehle , it takes up the Walschbach , directs its course to the west and flows through Troisfontaines and Hartzviller . At Petit Hartzviller it changes direction again to the north. The Guerche flows to the south of Schneckenbusch and a little later the Bièvre then crosses the Canal de la Marne au Rhin at Schneckenbusch-Bettling . It now flows through Buhl-Lorraine and is then strengthened by the Judengraben and at Sarrebourg by the Buergersmatt . It now flows through an industrial area and is fed by the Otter Bach south of Réding- Pitit Eich . It now runs west past Réding-Grand Eich. A little downstream, the Eichmatte joins the Bièvre , which shortly afterwards joins the Saar west of the D 43 at an altitude of around 240  m .
