Nataša Veljković ( Serbian - Cyrillic Наташа Вељковић ; born April 2, 1968 in Belgrade ) is a Serbian pianist .

Life

From the age of four, Veljković received her first piano lessons from Lili Petrović , performed at public concerts and, before she was ten, won first prizes in international youth competitions in Italy . She played piano concertos by Bach and Haydn for radio recordings .

After years of apprenticeship with Arbo Valdma in Belgrade, she was accepted into Paul Badura-Skoda 's class at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts at the age of 14 , where she graduated with honors in 1987. Nataša Veljkoviċ owes Paul Badura-Skoda her intensive study of Mozart . Further years of study followed at the Juilliard School in New York with Rudolf Firkušný (1988–1989) and at the Geneva Conservatory with Harry Datyner (1990–1992). In the course of her career she maintained intensive professional contacts with numerous musicians such as Nikita Magaloff and Norman Shetler .

Nataša Veljkoviċ has been taking part in European concerts since 1985. Her long-term collaboration with the Belgrade Strings "Dusan Skovran" and Maestro Aleksandar Pavlović took her on concert tours to Russia and China . She is a member of the jury at major international piano competitions.

Prominent conductors such as Lawrence Foster , Dimitrij Kitajenko , Antoni Wit , David Zinman , David Shalon , Emil Tabakov worked with Nataša Veljkoviċ. She also took part in many European festivals, for example Montreux , Berlin , Chopin Festival in Poland , MIDEM Classique Cannes , Juventus in Arcs et Sennans and Cambrai ( France ), Carinthian Summer , Haydn Festival Eisenstadt and BEMUS Belgrade.

She lives and works in Vienna, where she has headed a piano class at the University of Music and Performing Arts since 1993.

Nataša Veljkoviċ is married to cellist Tobias Stosiek and is the mother of violinist Milica Zulus (born August 31, 1999 in Vienna) and of Miloš Stosiek, who is from his first marriage.
