BiFi is a brand of the US company Jack Link’s . She will u. a. distributed in Germany , Switzerland , Austria , Belgium , the Netherlands , the Czech Republic , Denmark and the United Kingdom (there under the name Peperami ).

history

The BiFi brand was introduced in 1972 by the Unilever group owned Schaff Fleischwerke, based in Ansbach in Franconia . BiFi originally referred to the first product in today's product range, a small salami . The name BiFi is derived from the English adjective "beefy" (meaty). More than ten products are currently sold under the BiFi brand name . The sausage products are still produced in Ansbach.

After Schaff Fleischwerke was incorporated into Union Deutsche Lebensmittelwerke GmbH in 1989, BiFi was added to the Unilever range . Around 64 million of the sausage snacks were sold in 2013. In view of the sales figures, a planned sale of the brand was criticized by the Unilever works council as a "serious mistake". In February 2014, the then brand owner, the Unilever Group, sold the sausage brands BiFi and Peperami to the world's largest meat snack manufacturer Jack Link's . The main products of the family-run US company, which has also been active in Europe since 2008 , are beef jerky and mini salami. The best-known products of the BiFi brand are, besides the original mini salami, BiFi Roll and BiFi Carazza. BiFi Roll was launched in 1987, and BiFi Carazza was introduced in 1994. Since the takeover by Jack Link's, further products have been launched: In 2017, BiFi Turkey, the first BiFi snack entirely without pork, was launched. In autumn 2018, both the design of the packaging and the original logo were revised. The new look of the BiFi brand was introduced as part of a TV and online campaign.

All BiFi products are naturally smoked, produced with natural flavors and without artificial colors and flavor enhancers , and packaged in a protective atmosphere .

advertising

BiFi has a brand awareness of over 90% in Germany and has been advertised for many years with the slogan “BiFi… must be with!”.

Zomtec (2000)

From 2000 to 2002, various TV commercials were broadcast with the fictitious company Zomtec ( original spelling ZOMTEC , completely Zomtec Enterprises ) as the advertising medium . The spots show the employees in various everyday situations. The five main characters were exaggerated stereotypes . As part of the increasing Internet distribution, a separate multilingual website was set up at www.zomtec.com with information about the fictional cult company.

Testimonials

In 2006 Bastian Schweinsteiger appeared for the first time as a testimonial for BiFi in a commercial. A few years later, Thomas Müller , another soccer player, became the advertising medium for the sausage snack.

Do what you like (2018)

In 2018, a revised logo and packaging design were introduced as part of a cross-media communication campaign . The campaign was developed by the Berlin agency Heimat Active and, in addition to a main spot, also includes various online videos and measures for social media platforms. Under the motto "Do what you like", the campaign appeals to be your own, imperfect and perfect self - even against social expectations.
