The Bia is a river in Ghana and the Ivory Coast .

geography

The source of the Bia is located in Ghana in the Western North Region about 45 km southwest of the city of Sunyani . The river flows roughly for the most part in a southerly direction, with the exception of a section between 6 ° 17 'and 6 ° north latitude, where the river has a south-westerly direction. In the Ivory Coast, the Bia is dammed as a water reservoir and for the purpose of hydroelectric power generation by the Ayame Dam ( 5 ° 34 ′ 56 ″  N , 3 ° 9 ′ 30 ″  W ) (near the city of the same name, Ayame ; 5 ° 35 ′  N , 3 ° 7 ′  W ).

The water discharge of the Bia averages 83 m 3 / s at the mouth .
