Bidzina Kwernadze

Bidsina Kwernadze (born July 29, 1928 in Sighnaghi , Kakheti , Georgian SSR ; † July 8, 2010 in Tbilisi ) was a Georgian composer of classical music .

biography

After attending school, he studied composition with Andria Balantschiwadze at the Tbilisi Conservatory and graduated in 1953. From 1963 he taught there himself, from 1988 as a professor. He was the author and composer of numerous operas , symphonies and ballet music that became part of Georgian culture .

In addition, he was also the composer of the film music in more than 30 films such as together with Dschansug Kachidze in Data Tutashchia based on the novel by Tschabua Amiredschibi . In addition, he also composed theater music for the performances of Tschintschraka , Kwarkware , I see the sun , and Midsummer Night's Dream .

He has received several awards for his works and services and received the Sakari Paliaschwili Prize in 1981 and the Schota Rustaveli State Prize in 1985 . In addition, he was awarded the Order of Honor of Georgia in 1988. He was also made an honorary citizen of Tbilisi in 1996 .
