William Edward Bell (born June 10, 1891 in Lachine , Québec ; † June 3, 1952 in Pointe-Claire , Québec) was a Canadian ice hockey player who worked for the Montreal Wanderers , Canadiens de Montréal during his active career between 1909 and 1924 and Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League on the position of the center has played.

Career

Bell played in various amateur clubs in the Montreal area between 1909 and 1913 , before he played for the Montreal Wanderers in the National Hockey Association for the first time in the 1913/14 season. In the following game year Bell was part of the squad of league rivals Ottawa Senators , but he left the team again and returned to the Wanderers. With these he moved to the newly founded National Hockey League for the 1917/18 season . Shortly after the start of the season, however, the Wanderers ultimately had to stop playing because their venue had burned down on the foundation walls in a fire. Via a dispersal draft , the center came to city rivals Canadiens de Montréal in January 1918 , for whom he played sporadically until 1922 and completely suspended in the 1919/20 season.

Only with the renewed change in January 1922 to the Ottawa Senators, who received his services due to the previous move from Sprague Cleghorn to Montréal as compensation for the rest of the season, Bell ran more often in the NHL. As early as the 1922/23 season , the striker returned to the Habs , with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 1924 .
