action

With his new independent film Sunset Dreams, film director Bill plans not only to escape the control of the big Hollywood studios, but also to portray the difficult sides of being an actor. In a bar he meets the waitress Gloria, who has been trying in vain for five years to make it big as an actress. Bill gives her his card and encourages her to go to the casting for Sunset Dreams . Shortly afterwards, Bill meets up with his friend Rod and his girlfriend Nathalie. Rod agrees to fund the film with a million dollars. He makes the condition that his girlfriend and adopted son Tony get a role in the film. The next day, Bill meets Gloria, who has had enough of Los Angeles and wants to go home. He persuades her to go to the casting and in fact she is cast as the leading actress of Sunset Dreams . More investors are ready to spend money on the new film so that filming can begin.

Bill sees on TV that 5000 dead birds have fallen from the sky in Arkansas; there has also been red rain in Half Moon Bay , California. In a coastal city, a bather is attacked by a giant jellyfish. From bird expert Dr. Jones learns to Bill, Gloria, Rod and Nathalie that once giant birds - direct descendants of the dinosaurs - fell completely preserved in asphalt pits in front of the George C. Page Museum in La Brea Tar Pits , Los Angeles. While the four party a little later on Santa Catalina Island , a red rain shower falls in front of the museum and the birds come to life. The birds attack the four a little later while filming Sunset Dreams . The four of them flee, while on the run they meet the screenwriter Will and later the blonde Jessica in a western village. The escape from the birds leads the group to a cemetery, where they are attacked by zombies , where Jessica dies. In a zoo, they learn that the birds are a result of global warming . The group's escape eventually ends at a hotel, with Will being killed by the birds. The animals fly on to Hollywood.

Birdemic 2: The Resurrection was created as a sequel to Birdemic: Shock and Terror , which was released in 2008. Alan Bagh (Rod) and Whitney Moore (Nathalie) took over their roles from the first part. The director was again James Nguyen, who also wrote the script as in the first part. As in the first part, there are also allusions to Alfred Hitchcock's Die Vögel in Birdemic 2: The Resurrection. In one scene, the film poster for The Birds (and Vertigo - From the Realm of the Dead ) can be seen in the background; in addition, Tippi Hedren's star is shown on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .

Filming began on February 4, 2012. Filming locations included Universal Studios, the George C. Page Museum in La Brea Tar Pits and the Mountain View Cemetery in Altadena (cemetery / zombie scenes).

Birdemic 2: The Resurrection was first shown in New York City on April 10, 2013 and was released on DVD in the US on October 15, 2013.
