Birger Gesthuisen
Birger Gesthuisen (born September 6, 1952 in Duisburg-Rheinhausen ; † February 15, 2015 in Moers ) was a German journalist and music producer .
life and work
Birger Gesthuisen grew up in Duisburg-Rheinhausen, studied social sciences and sociology and lived in Moers . He organized series of concerts, festivals and tours and in 1978, together with Ute Badura, produced the LP Bauer Maas - songs against atomic energy (musicians and music groups: butterflies , Walter Moßmann , Fiedel Michel , Frank Baier , Tom Kannemacher , Saitenwind ). In 1997 he received the DW-Worldmusic Award from Deutsche Welle for an edition of Musikpassagen , a series on WDR Radio 5of West German Broadcasting . Birger Gesthuisen managed the music publisher and the Feuer & Eis label . In addition, he worked as a freelance music producer. His 1993 production A World Out of Time II - Henry Kaiser & David Lindley in Madagascar was nominated for a Grammy the following year . Since 1985 he has worked as an author and presenter, primarily for the local West German radio in Cologne, but also for the Hessian radio and for Radio Bremen . In 2009 his book Musikwelten NRW - cultures of immigrants was published .
