Birgit Guðjónsdóttir (German transcription Birgit Gudjonsdottir , born January 4, 1962 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic camerawoman who creates images .

Life

Birgit Guðjónsdóttir was born in Reykjavík in 1962 as the daughter of an Austrian artist and an Icelandic carpenter. She grew up in Iceland, Norway, Germany and Austria. After studying photography in Vienna, she worked as a camera assistant in international film and television productions. She has been the Director of Photography / Cinematographer since 1992.

Birgit Guðjónsdóttir has been a lecturer at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy since 1998 . From 2005 to 2010 she lectured at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin. Since 2010 she has been teaching regularly at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf (Potsdam), where she was awarded an honorary professorship in 2013. She is a member of the German Film Academy and the European Film Academy (EFA). In 2012 she was appointed a board member of 'IMAGO' European Federation of Cinematographers. Since 2008 she has been 'IMAGO' representative of the Federal Camera Association (BVK).

Birgit Guðjónsdóttir lives and works in Berlin.
