Birgit Hagen

Birgit Hagen (* 6. June 1957 in Grevenbroich , after marriage Blasberg ) is a former German Hockey spielerin and Olympian 1984 .

Birgit Hagen played in Cologne HTC Blue-White and was the center of Cologne in 1979 and in 1980 German indoor champion, in 1980 , she was also champion in field hockey. After their international match career she played two years at Düsseldorf HC .

The midfielder made her debut in 1975 in the German national hockey team . Birgit Hagen took part in four world championships . In 1976 and 1981 she won the title, in 1978 she was second and only in 1983 she did not get into the medal ranks as fourth. In 1975 , 1977 and 1981 she was European indoor champion. At the European Championship in 1984 she finished third with the team. In 1984 she drove with the German team to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles and won silver behind the team from the Netherlands . She has been the captain of the German national team since the 1981 World Cup . Birgit Hagen played a total of 145 international matches from 1975 to 1984, 28 of them indoors. As a record national player, she was replaced by Gabriele Marion Appel .

Birgit Blasberg now lives in Neuss, where two of her three sons play hockey at Schwarz-Weiß Neuss .
