Birgit Werres

Birgit Werres (* 1962 in Stommeln ) is a German sculptor and draftsman who lives and works in Düsseldorf .

Life

From 1982 to 1988 she studied art at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf with Tony Cragg and Irmin Kamp , from 1987 to 1988 she spent at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht , Netherlands , before studying with Irmin Kamp as a master student in 1988 Graduated from the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Her unconventional sculptures and installation ensembles, which she composes from found objects and raw materials, are strongly influenced by the informal art of the 1970s, with which names such as Robert Smithson , Barry Le Va , Richard Artschwager , Bill Bollinger or Richard Serra can be associated.
