Birk Ruud (born April 2, 2000 ) is a Norwegian freestyle skier . He starts in the disciplines halfpipe , slopestyle and big air .

Career

Ruud appeared internationally for the first time in March 2015 at the Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco . There he won the bronze medal in slopestyle. He made his debut in the Freestyle Skiing World Cup in January 2016 in Mammoth , which he finished in 15th place in slopestyle. The following month he won at the Youth Olympic Winter Games in 2016 in Lillehammer gold medal in slopestyle and finished at the X-Games Oslo in 2016 to 20th place in the Big Air. At the beginning of the season 2016/17 he was in the Big Air event One Hit Wonder in Thredbo and runner-up at the Nor Freeski Cup in Hovden . At the X-Games Norway 2017 in Hafjell he came fifth in Big Air. In March 2017 he came fifth at the X-Games Norway 2017 in Hafjell and 15th at the World Championships in Sierra Nevada . Rank in slopestyle. At the last World Cup of the season in Voss , he finished second and first in Big Air and came 17th in the overall World Cup and second in the Big Air World Cup. In April 2017 he became Norwegian champion in slopestyle and in April 2018 in halfpipe. After first place in slopestyle at the Australian New Zealand Cup in Cardrona at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, he finished sixth in Big Air at the Winter X Games 2018 in Aspen and won the gold medal in the X Games Norway 2018 in Fornebu Big Air. At the 2018 Junior World Championships in Cardrona, he won the bronze medal in the halfpipe. At the beginning of November 2018 he won his second World Cup victory at Big Air in Modena . This was followed by two fourth places and at the end of the season second place in the Big Air World Cup. At the 2019 World Championships in Park City , he won the silver medal in slopestyle and the gold medal in Big Air at the 2019 Winter X Games . In the following season, he won the Big Air World Cup with two first and second places. He was also sixth in the overall World Cup and fourth in slopestyle. At the Winter X Games 2020 and the X Games Norway 2020 he won the silver medal in Big Air.
