Birtukan Adamu Ali (born April 29, 1992 ) is an Ethiopian obstacle runner .

Athletic career

Birtukan Adamu gained her first international experience in 2010 at the Junior World Championships in Moncton , where she won the silver medal in 9: 43.23 minutes. The following year she won the Junior African Championships in Gaborone in 9: 53.80 min and also qualified for the World Championships in Daegu , where she finished tenth in 10: 05.10 min. Then she won the bronze medal at the Africa Games in Maputo in 10: 02.22 minutes behind the Kenyan Hyvin Kiyeng Jepkemoi and her compatriot Hiwot Ayalew . In 2012 she won the silver medal behind the Kenyan Mercy Wanjiku Njoroge at the African Championships in Porto-Novo in 9: 45.41 minutes . Four years later she finished fifth at the 2016 African Championships in Durban in 9: 50.52 minutes and in 2019 she finished fourth at the African Games in Rabat in 9: 44.86 minutes.

In 2010, 2017 and 2019 Adamu became the Ethiopian champion in the obstacle course.
