Bisser Kirow ( Bulgarian Бисер Киров ; born September 4, 1942 in Sofia , † November 6, 2016 in Berlin ) was a Bulgarian pop singer .

Life

Kirov took an early interest in music and plays the violin , viola and guitar . He started studying journalism at Sofia University and later graduated from the University of Chemistry and Metallurgy. At the beginning of his musical career, he performed in student clubs. From 1966 he worked with the hit composer Moris Aladjem . In 1970 he won first prize at the Golden Orpheus . In 1974 he won first prize at the Dresden International Schlager Festival . Kirov also won many international prizes. In 1978 he worked on the Cottbus Children's Musical and on the anniversary show for the 1000th show of the Schlagerrevue .

He sang in five languages, including German , Bulgarian and Russian, and was one of the most successful pop singers in Eastern Europe in the 1970s and 1980s . Kirov released 15 long-playing records , dozen of singles and nine CDs. In total, his works reached a circulation of 7 million, with 700 songs by Bulgarian, Russian , Spanish , German and English composers published. He also composed himself and wrote more than 300 songs of his own. In total he gave more than 4,500 concerts.

In the 1980s he learned music directing in the Soviet Union and designed several programs for the Bulgarian National Radio . From 2006 to 2010 Kirov worked as a cultural advisor at the Bulgarian Embassy in Moscow .
