The diocese Chuncheon ( lat. : Dioecesis Chuncheonensis , kor. : 천주교 춘천 교구 ) is in South Korea location Roman Catholic diocese based in Chuncheon .

history

The diocese of Chuncheon was founded on April 25, 1939 by Pope Pius XII. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Ad fidei propagationem from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate of Seoul as the Apostolic Prefecture of Shunsen . The Apostolic Prefecture Shunsen was on July 16, 1950 Apostolic Prefecture Chunchon renamed. On September 20, 1955, the Chunchon Apostolic Prefecture was founded by Pope Pius XII. raised to the apostolic vicariate .

On March 10, 1962, the Apostolic Vicariate Chunchon was by Pope John XXIII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Fertile Evangelii and renamed the Diocese of Chuncheon . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Seoul as a suffragan .
