history

St. Joseph Cathedral in Fengxiang

The Diocese of Fengxiang was on November 15, 1932 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Ex Apostolico munere from cessions of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Xi'an as the Apostolic Prefecture of Fengxiang . The Fengxiang Apostolic Prefecture was founded on June 9, 1942 by Pope Pius XII. raised to the apostolic vicariate .

The Apostolic Vicariate Fengxiang was on April 11, 1946 by Pius XII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Xi'an as a suffragan .
