The diocese of Yizhou (lat. Dioecesis Iceuvensis ), located in the People's Republic of China , was founded as an Apostolic Vicariate on July 1, 1937 and elevated to a diocese on April 11, 1946 .

The diocese belonging to the ecclesiastical province of Jinan was a mission area of the Steyler missionaries , which also included the vicars apostles and the only bishop, Karl Christian Weber from Germany , who died on November 15, 1970. After his death, due to the political situation, the diocese could no longer be occupied with the blessing of Rome until September 22, 2018 , when Pope Francis recognized the bishop of the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association .
