The Bistum Kengtung ( lat. : Dioecesis Kengtunghensis ) is an in Myanmar preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Keng Tung .

history

The diocese Kengtung was on April 27, 1927 by Pope Pius XI. Established with the Apostolic Constitution In omnes orbis from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate of Eastern Burma as Apostolic Prefecture Kengtung . The Apostolic Prefecture Kengtung was on May 26, 1950 by Pope Pius XII. raised to the apostolic vicariate . On January 1, 1955, the Vicariate Apostolic Kengtung by Pius XII. raised to the diocese and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Mandalay as a suffragan . The diocese of Kengtung gave up on November 20, 1975 parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Lashio . On January 17, 1998, the Kengtung diocese was subordinated to the Taunggyi Archdiocese of the Suffragan.
