The diocese of Nanyang ( lat. : Dioecesis Naniamensis ) is in the People's Republic of China Located Roman Catholic diocese based in Nanyang .

history

Pope Pius IX founded the Apostolic Vicariate South Honan on August 28, 1882 from the division of the Apostolic Vicariate Honan into North Honan and South Honan . On September 21, 1916 the Apostolic Vicariate of South Honan gave up parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Vicariate of East Honan . The Apostolic Vicariate of South Honan was renamed the Apostolic Vicariate of Nanyang on December 3, 1924 . On March 2, 1933, the Vicariate Apostolic Nanyang gave parts of its territory from the establishment of the Apostolic Prefecture of Zhumadian .

The Apostolic Vicariate Nanyang was on April 11, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Kaifeng as a suffragan .
