The diocese Nyundo ( lat. : Dioecesis Nyundoensis ) is in Rwanda preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Nyundo .
history
Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Vicariate Surabaia on February 14, 1952 out of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Rwanda . With the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum it was raised on November 10, 1959 to the rank of diocese, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Kigali as a suffragan .
It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
- December 20, 1960 to the Diocese of Ruhengeri ;
- November 5, 1981 to the Diocese of Cyangugu .

The diocese of Nyundo comprises the districts of Karongi, Ngororero, Nyabihu, Rubavu and Rutsiro in the Rwandan western province .
