The Bistum Ondjiva ( lat. : Dioecesis Ondiivana ) is in Angola preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Ondjiva . It includes the province of Cunene .

history

Pope Paul VI founded the diocese of Pereira de Eça with the Apostolic Constitution Quoniam apprime on August 10, 1975 from cession of the dioceses of Sá da Bandeira and Nova Lisboa and it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Luanda as a suffragan diocese.

On February 3, 1977 it became part of the Church of Lubango Province. On May 16, 1979, it took on its current name. It was not until 1988 that the diocese received its first bishop, Fernando Guimarães Kevanu .
