The Bistum Pathein ( lat. : Dioecesis Patheinensis ) is an in Myanmar preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Pathein .

history

The diocese of Pathein was on January 1, 1955 by Pope Pius XII. established from the cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Rangoon as the bishopric of Bassein . On October 8, 1991, the Bassein diocese was renamed the Pathein diocese .

It is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Yangon as a suffragan .
