The Roman Catholic Diocese of Ponta de Pedras ( Latin Dioecesis Petrosi Culminis , Portuguese Diocese de Ponta de Pedras ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese headquartered in Ponta de Pedras in the state of Pará .

history

The diocese of Ponta de Pedras was on June 25, 1963 by Pope Paul VI. from the cession of territory by the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará built as a territorial prelature Ponta de Pedras . The territorial prelature was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará as a suffragan . On October 16, 1979, the territorial prelature of Ponta de Pedras was raised to the diocese by Pope John Paul II with the papal bull Cum Praelaturae .
