Alessio Saccardo

Alessio Saccardo SJ (born September 21, 1940 in Marano Vicentino , Vicenza Province , Veneto ) is an Italian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Ponta de Pedras in Brazil.

Life

Alessio Saccardo joined the religious order of the Jesuits and was ordained a priest on September 5, 1970 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Ponta de Pedras on January 16, 2002 . He received his episcopal ordination on April 6th of the same year by the Archbishop of Mariana , Luciano Pedro Mendes de Almeida SJ; Co- consecrators were Angelo Maria Rivato SJ, Former Bishop of Ponta de Pedras, and Celso José Pinto da Silva , Archbishop of Teresina . He chose IN VERBO TUO LAXABO RETE as his motto .

On September 23, 2015, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
