history
The diocese of San Juan Bautista de las Misiones was founded on January 19, 1957 by Pope Pius XII. Erected from cessions of territory by the Archdiocese of Asunción and the Diocese of Villarrica . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Asunción as a suffragan .
