The diocese of Santa Rosa de Copán was founded on February 2, 1916 by Pope Benedict XV. built from cession of territory by the Comayagua diocese . The diocese of Santa Rosa de Copán is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Tegucigalpa as a suffragan .
