Status: end of career

Björn Andersson (born February 13, 1982 ) is a former Swedish football player . The midfielder , who played in the top division in Sweden and Norway, made his debut in 2008 for GAIS Göteborg in the Allsvenskan .

Career

Career start in Sweden

Andersson began playing football at Fåglums IF before the former defender moved to Trollhättans FK in the youth. After the club merged with Trollhättans IF to form FC Trollhättan , he played for this in the third-class division 2 Västra Götaland . In 2005 he reached the runner-up with the club behind Qviding FIF , who rose to the Superettan . He made himself interesting for the competitor who signed him for the second division. There he was used in 17 games this season, but could not prevent the club's direct relegation.

After the end of the season, the Allsvenskan club GAIS reported Andersson's commitment. At the Gothenburg club he signed a contract that was valid until 2010 and was given the number "22" on his back. At the beginning of the 2008 season he was used as a defender, but soon lost his regular place. After he was used in the middle of the season as a substitute on the offensive, he established himself as a regular in the attack of the club towards the end of the season .

From November on, Andersson suffered a groin injury, which he initially wanted to cure without an operative attack. In January he finally had to undergo an operation. Therefore, coach Alexander Axén had to do without him at the beginning of the 2009 season . He returned to the football field at the end of May, but did not get beyond the role of substitute until the end of the season. In the 2010 season he was a regular again and aroused the interest of foreign football clubs.

Change abroad

At the beginning of January 2011, Andersson signed a contract with the Norwegian club Viking Stavanger that was valid until the end of 2012. Under coach Åge Hareide , he was left with the role of substitute at his new club. Although he made a total of 19 appearances in the championship in the 2011 season , he only stood in the 4-0 defeat against IK Start on the 4th, the 2-1 victory over Tromsø IL on the 19th and the 0-0 -Remis at the eventual champions Molde FK on matchday 24 in the starting lineup . He had crowned his second game in the starting eleven with his only goal in his debut season, the goal for the interim 1-0 lead. In the following season he did not get beyond the role of the supplementary player, even after his compatriot Kjell Jonevret took over the coaching office of Hareide in summer 2012, he was only part of the starting lineup for a short time.

Return to Sweden

Two years after moving to Norway, Andersson returned to GAIS, the first division relegated to announce an agreement in mid-December despite the economic problems of the club. In the Superettan , the defender was one of the core forces under Thomas Askebrand , the interim solution Kjell Pettersson and successor Per-Ola Ljung when the team established itself in the middle of the table. At the end of 2015, he extended his expiring contract for another season. Under coach Benjamin Westman , he then made 13 appearances in the second division season in 2016 , before ending his active career at the end of the season.
