Blace ( Cyrillic Блаце ) is a ghost village in the southeast of the Konjic municipality in Bosnia and Herzegovina . It has been uninhabited since the Bosnian War and belongs to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina .
geography
Blace is located at an altitude of 1215 m in the thinly populated plateau south of the Bjelašnica . It is right on the edge of the 600 meter deep Rakitnica gorge , which flows into the Neretva to the west. The small mountain lake Blatačko jezero at 1156 m is not more than four meters deep . The lake and the surrounding area are protected as a national monument. The area is dry and sparsely overgrown.
The next place is Čuhovići , about four kilometers northeast. The southwestern neighbor is Dubočani , about five kilometers away. The Konjic Community Center is about 20 kilometers to the northwest.
history
There are numerous Stećci in and around Blace , which indicate a much more extensive settlement in the late Middle Ages.
During the Bosnian War , the small town was attacked on May 15, 1992 by Bosnian government troops under the command of Mithad Pirkić . Several residents lost their lives. Today only the foundations of the houses are left.
population
At the 1991 census, Blace had 21 residents who called themselves exclusively Serbs. The surrounding villages, on the other hand, were predominantly Muslim. Today the place is deserted.
