The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton ( Bosnian Hercegovačko-neretvanski Canton , Croatian Hercegovačko-neretvanska Županija ) is one of the ten cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina . The name is derived from the Neretva river and the Herzegovina area in which the canton is located. The administrative seat is in Mostar .
The canton is located in the southwest of the country and has an area of 4,401.0 km².

The Herzegovina-Neretva canton has around 236,000 inhabitants (2013) and is relatively sparsely populated with around 54 inhabitants per square kilometer. The two large reservoirs Jablaničko jezero (on the Neretva) and Ramsko jezero (on the Rama ) are located on the territory of the canton .
Herzegovina-Neretva is one of the two former cantons with special status , in which the Croatian and Bosniak population groups are roughly the same size.
