The Blackenstock is 2930 m above sea level. M. high mountain in the Urner Alps in Switzerland .
geography
It is located in the canton of Uri in the area of the municipalities of Attinghausen and Isenthal, immediately northwest of the Surenen Pass . Together with the Engelberger Rotstock , the Wissigstock and the Brunnistock , it forms the end of the Isental valley. About two kilometers to the north is the similarly high Uri Rotstock , while in the south on the other side of the Surenen is the higher Schlossberg . Towards the north, the terrain drops relatively slowly and is largely filled by the Blüemlisalpfirn , which rises to an altitude of approx. 2300 m above sea level. M. is enough, while the terrain to the Surenenpass drops abruptly several hundred meters as an impressive rock face.
Alpinism
In contrast to the Uri Rotstock, there are no tracks on the Blackenstock. It can be climbed as an alpine tour from the Isental via the Gitschenhörelihütte , whereby the summit can be reached via the west ridge ( ZS ) or the east ridge ( WS + ). Both routes lead in the lower part over the Blüemlisalpfirn.
