The Wissigstock is a 2887 m above sea level. M. high mountain of the Urner Alps in Switzerland .
geography
The Wissigstock is located approx. 5 km northwest of the municipality of Engelberg on the border between the cantons of Obwalden and Uri and is part of the mountain range immediately north of the Surenen Pass . Three ridges run to its summit, which are also community boundaries and make the summit a trip point for the communities of Engelberg, Isenthal and Attinghausen . The northwest ridge runs from the Rot Grätli over the Engelberger Rotstock and Engelberger Lücke to the summit, the southwest ridge splits into two ridges and reaches the lower neighboring mountains Hahnen and Wissberg and the east ridge runs over the Blackenlücke to the somewhat higher Blackenstock . The terrain to the west and north of the Wissigstock is relatively flat and is covered by two smaller glaciers, the Griessen glacier and the Schlossfirn . Towards the southeast, the terrain drops steeply over cliffs to the headwaters of the Engelberger Aa , the Surenen .
Alpinism
The mountain can be climbed as an alpine hike from Engelberg, the Bannalp or the Isental over the Rot Grätli and the Engelberger Lücke, although the terrain in the upper part is pathless in places. The Rugghubelhütte is located on the rise about 3 km west of the Wissigstock . In winter it is possible to climb on skis.
