Blaine Lacher (born September 5, 1970 in Medicine Hat , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who has played for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League during his playing career .
Career
Blaine Lacher played during his junior years from 1989 to 1990 for the Melville Millionaires in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League , in which he was in goal in 39 games and booked a shutout . He then began studying at Lake Superior State University and actively played ice hockey in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association . His best season with the Lakers was in the 1993/94 game year with six shutouts in 30 games and winning the NCAA Division I championship. Now almost 24 years old, he signed a contract with the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League in June 1994 . In the 1994/95 season he was used in 35 NHL games for the Bruins, parried 90.2 percent of the shots and managed four shutouts. In February 1995 he was named NHL Rookie of the Month .
In the playoffs followed the elimination in the first round against the New Jersey Devils . In the 1995/96 season he was still in twelve NHL games in the goal of the Bruins, but then he was sent to the farm team to the Providence Bruins and replaced by Bill Ranford . He also played a few games for the Cleveland Lumberjacks in the International Hockey League . The 1996/97 season spent laughing at the Grand Rapids Griffins , for which he was in eleven games in goal and ended his active career at the end of the season.
