Blankenhagen is a district of the town of Moringen in the Northeim district in southern Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

Geographical location

Blankenhagen is located above the Leinegraben on the east side of the Weper ridge , southwest of Moringen, southeast of Nienhagen and northwest of Thüdinghausen . The federal highway 241 leads from Moringen in a south-westerly direction in the east past Blankenhagen.

Structural data

With 85 inhabitants (2018), Blankenhagen is the smallest district of Moringen in terms of inhabitants and area. In the field that lies landfill Blankenhagen-Moringen the district Northeim at the county road 427 north-east of the town center. Blankenhagen has a village community center . The volunteer fire brigade provides fire protection and general help. The head of the village is Frauke Stobbe (2011).

history

Presumably in pre-Christian times there was a place of worship for the north Germanic goddess Freya in Blankenhagen . Initially, the area probably served as a pasture and herding settlement for Thüdinghausen and was not permanently inhabited until the 12th century. Blankenhagen was mentioned for the first time in a document from the Welfs from 1318.

Blankenhagen was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt in wars and feuds. This was also the case during the Thirty Years' War , when the damage was estimated at 2,876 Reichstaler. In the middle of the 18th century the village of Lutterhausen was a parish, the children from Blankenhagen were also taught at the local school. The population was hardly more than 100 people. In 1975 Blankenhagen had 83 inhabitants, the number rose to 97 in 1985. At 75 in 1997, the district had the lowest population since 1975. It rose to 94 by 2005 and fell again to 85 by 2018.

On March 1, 1974, Blankenhagen was incorporated into the city of Moringen.
