The Blattbach is the 3.1 km long, west-northwest and left source brook of the Helmbach in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Bad Dürkheim . It is also seen by some as its tributary. The Blattbach is located along its entire length in the area of ​​the municipality of Elmstein .

The Blattbach rises in the central Palatinate Forest at an altitude of 402  m above sea level. NHN .

It initially flows eastwards through a narrow valley between the Brogberg in the north and Blattberg ( 550.8  m above sea level ) in the south. At the Birnenberg corridor, it is fed on the right by the Miedersbach coming from the west-southwest .

The Blattbach finally unites at the Geiswies corridor at a height of 27  m above sea level. NHN with the Teufelsbach coming from the southwest to the Helmbach .

Its 3.1 km long run ends about 132 meters below its source, so it has an average bed gradient of 43 ‰.

Catchment area

The 7.2 km² catchment area of ​​the Blattbach lies in the Middle Palatinate Forest and is drained from it via the Helmbach, the Speyerbach and the Rhine to the North Sea.

It borders

  • in the northeast to that of the Iggelbach , which flows into the Helmbach,
  • to the east and south to that of the Helmbach
  • to the southwest by that of the corrugated Bach , the inflow into the Rhine Queich opens
  • and in the west and northwest to that of the Speyerbach.

The catchment area is almost completely forested.

The highest point is the Brogberg at 556.9  m above sea level. NHN in the west of the catchment area.
